How I teach
My aim is to grow a student’s interest in and curiosity about music, and to pass on my knowledge, skills and love of the piano so that music becomes an active part of their life. Technique and a wide range of repertoire are at the heart of every lesson, and the basics of music theory and music history are part of it from the start.
I teach beginning, intermediate and advanced students, from children to adults, each with a curriculum built for them. Over more than ten years of running a studio, including helping several students enter Bachelor of Music programs at universities in Korea, I have learned to read a student’s strengths and weaknesses accurately and to help them improve efficiently, both as performers and as musicians.
At the center of my teaching is conversation. Talking with students, not only instructing them, is how a teacher truly gets to know them, and how students grow into well-rounded pianists who play well and enjoy the music they play.

The studio
Lessons are taught at my studio in the Country Club Park neighborhood, near Hancock Park, Larchmont and Koreatown. Students outside the area can take lessons over Zoom at the same rates.
The studio holds two recitals a year.
Students prepare for theory and performance assessments through:
- RCM Certificate Program, Royal Conservatory of Music
- ABRSM, Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music
- Certificate of Merit, MTAC
Accompanying
I have accompanied many students through school recitals, competitions and music school auditions, in Los Angeles County.
